Haircare Products to Love or Toss
Anyone else hate hearing from your stylist that your hair isn’t healthy? I’ve started to really pay attention to the health of my hair, and after some digging, realized that most brands out there including ones I had been using and enjoyed, had silicone in them. I thought that was bad for our hair? So how do I know which haircare products to love or toss?
According to Healthline –
“Silicone isn’t a toxic chemical. In fact, it’s completely safe to apply to your hair and won’t harm your physical health in any way. The only thing it can affect is the strength and appearance of your hair. A weighty feel, dryness, and hard-to-remove buildup are common silicone concerns.”
Seems like the culprit of split ends to me and not exactly what I’d call “perfectly safe”.
All of that build up creates split and dead ends, weighty hair, and is overall ineffective long-term. So then what do you use? It’s hard to know which products ARE ok for your hair, because the marketing can sound so good!

Ingredients to Love
Go for natural products. They should not have filler ingredients like silicones, parabens, or sulfates.
Not everything within a product line will be paraben or sulfate free, so you need to be careful. Just because one product is, that doesn’t mean the rest will be.
For instance, I have always loved using Bb, but recently found that many of their products have harsh fillers to make the hair look and appear thicker, but it’s just silicone, such as their thickening line.
However, I absolutely love the Bumble and Bumble dry shampoo and heat protectant spray and found those ingredients to be amazing. So don’t throw the baby out with the bath water!

I’ve used this daily for the past 4 years and still haven’t found a better hair oil. It smells amazing, and tames frizz and flyaways better than anything I’ve found. I have very fine hair, and I still use the original MOROCCANOIL. and not the light version, and just use one pump instead of two. You get more bang for your buck as the light version is just a watered down version of this oil.

Bumble and Bumble has a dry shampoo that has become my staple go-to. It’s travel size and plane friendly, and lasts me 3-6 months a bottle.
